Sources and hazards of VOCs
Main sources of volatile organic compounds:
In the outdoor, mainly from fuel combustion and transportation of industrial waste gas, automobile exhaust, photochemical pollution;
Indoors, it comes from combustion products such as coal and natural gas, smoke from smoking, heating and cooking, and emissions from building and decorative materials, furniture, household appliances, cleaning agents and the human body itself. In the process of interior decoration and decoration engineering, volatile organic compounds mainly come from paints, coatings and adhesives. VOC content in general paint is 30 to 70 grams per liter. Because volatile organic compounds have strong volatility, under normal circumstances, paint construction within 10 hours, can volatilize 90%.
VOCs: a general term for volatile organic compounds
Organic waste gas:
Alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic hydrocarbons, aldehydes, ketones, ethers, alcohols, sulfur/chlorine/nitrogen-containing organics
Accompanying ingredients:
H2S, HCL, CO, NH3, etc.
The impact of VOCs on the atmosphere is one of the main causes of haze
- The contribution of SOA generated by VOCs to PM2.5 is 20-50%;
- VOCs are important precursors of O3;
- 1/3 of VOCs have “three causes” effects, which seriously endanger human health.
