RTO funguje tak, \u017ee oh\u0159\u00edv\u00e1 zne\u010di\u0161t\u011bn\u00fd vzduch na vysokou teplotu, co\u017e zp\u016fsobuje rozklad zne\u010di\u0161\u0165uj\u00edc\u00edch l\u00e1tek na m\u00e9n\u011b \u0161kodliv\u00e9 slou\u010deniny. Vy\u010di\u0161t\u011bn\u00fd vzduch se pot\u00e9 uvol\u0148uje do atmosf\u00e9ry.
